FENDI SS09

The new silhouette this season starts from the shoulders, while the hugely prominent ‘big shoulders’ give a nod to the 80′s.  For SS 09 they are going to be authoritative, steady and self-confident.

And it’s NOT JUST about PADS and structured frames, look for EMBROIDERY and  EMBELLISHMENTS too. ( Fendi/ Herchcovitch)

marc_jacobs_ss09_411

MARC JACOBS SS09

The look is unmistakeable and not just remarked upon in up-to- date women business suits ( Marc Jacobs/ Maison Martin Margiela), but is also carried over into blouses ( Proenza Schouler), little squared dresses ( Max Mara/ Christian Lacroix) , jackets ( Louis Vuitton/ Nina Ricci/ Balmain), and even the humble t- shirt has built-in shoulder pads ( A. Wang).

balmain_ss09_1014

BALMAIN SS09

Fashionistas are showcasing jackets and tops with built-in broad boxiness shown at Dolce & Gabbana on a pyjamas jumpsuit. For a cheap, chic update, slide a pair of detachable shoulder pads into a cardi or coat. Combine the boxy jacket with new peg trousers, cigarette pants or capri pants.

CHRISTIAN LACROIX SS09

And if you’re going for it, remember that this look needs 100 per cent commitment. Finally to make this look really work, you should add retro accessories or better still ala ‘A. Wang’, rolled up sleeves for a Miami Vice feel! Look for scarf type belts, bug glasses and huge chunky earrings.

Even though Christmas has passed, the cold is still all around with; Snowfalls and ice mean we’ve lost the count of the layers we’ re wearing…Yet I’m really looking forward to the arrival of Spring, probably because I’ve spend the last couple of days searching the web for the new S/S 09 Ad Campaigns!!

Gisele Bundchen & Kate Moss by Mario Testino; Dolce & Gabanna S/S 09 : Mariacarla Boscono; Just Cavalli S/S 09 : Kate Moss & Justin Gaston Mert & Marcus;  Chanel S/S 09 : Heidi Mount by Karl Lagerfeld; Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 09 so many great campaigns to choose from!

The one I really love and made me feel in the right ‘spring mood’ is the Burberry campaign, imagined by Christopher Bailey and photographed by Mario Testino. It reflects the brand in all its British romanticism and recreates that feeling of the English countryside. The Personal Stylist has matched everything in an elegant way: the colour palette plays with beiges, golden khakis and dim taupe pinks, and the edit of clothes and accessories is a blend of urban and rural style.

And we also see the arrival of a new member in the Burberry gang: Eden Clarke. Is she the new Agyness Dean? She made the cover of November Vogue seen here with Lily Donaldson, photographer Emily Hope, Actor Alex Pettyfer, musicians George Craig and Sam Beeton with models Alexina Graham and Richard Wyndham.
