Top Tips for Interns Jobs

by Gabrielle on July 31, 2011

So now you have got your degree, where to now?? Searching for a job or a first internship can be daunting personal stylist Gabrielle Teare gives some top tips. These are some of the things that helped CNN viewers to get jobs.

Tip 1. Look the Part.

First Impressions count. We make decisions on people in the first 30 seconds of meeting them we never get another chance to make a good first impression so dress to impress.  Wear a suit or a slick dress, corporate colours are black, navy and grey, stick to them.

Tip 3. Preparation

Learn about the company. Why should they employ you? What skills, unique talents do you have that set you apart? Why do you want to work for them? Do you homework. Practice standard interview questions and learn the answers so nothing catches you out.

Tip 4. Fitting in

Do not wear over fashionable clothes, too much make-up, jewellery or perfume. Make sure you have had a haircut and you are well groomed, nails manicured, shoes polished etc all add to that first 30 second impact. Smile, extend a hand in friendship, shake firmly and make eye contact. Many people can do the job, what people want is someone who will get on with others.

Tip 5 Sell Yourself

Do not be afraid to boost yourself at interviews, it is the one chance you have to shine. Do not be arrogant but think of all the things you have done that could help you to be a valuable member of that company. When have you been a team player? Now is the time to match yourself to the job in hand. Go for it! Good Luck.

Style Icon Mark Ronson always looks the part, always creative great for the Media industry. What do people wear in your industry? City suits are very different from media suits.

Pippa Middleton Dress

by Gabrielle on June 17, 2011

As the Leading London Personal Shopper I am always on the lookout for amazing fashion for my clients. I loved Pippa Middletons’s Dress. My view is that it was the most stylish outfit at the Royal Wedding eclipsing Kate’s seen before Grace Kelly dress by miles. Kate had an opportunity to set the world on fire instead she chose a safe dull copy. Take a look at Alexander McQueens last collection and you will see so many stunning wedding dresses by Sarah Burton.

I am always in the shops on the lookout for great new styles for my clients. Check out this dress on ASOS it has a cowl neck front deeply flattering and a gold zip running from top to bottom. This is a stunning dress based on the lines of Pippa’s superb style it is simply gorgeous and at £45 looks like it costs £400+. Ignore the beige this has to be black black black!! Infinitely nicer from the front than this photo shows. I love this great for work or parties.

Christian Louboutin Platforms

As a Personal Shopper in London I am frequently in the shops. Last Wednesday I was doing a preview for some of my clients and was in a packed (what recession) Christian Louboutin shop in Knightsbridge.  I watched woman after woman trying to walk in 6.5” high platforms.

Burberry Prorsum Python Pumps

I was struck by how stupid, unstylish and lacking in elegance the women looked.  If you cannot stand in a shop to try on shoes they are going to be massively unwearable.  Look at how ugly these shoes actually are.

Versace Sandals

Then I visited the new shoe department this week in Selfridges with a client, and saw even more horrible shoes.  Trust me these are tranny shoes uncomfortable, and ugly and you will walk like a tranny if you try to wear them. Look at these from Versace?? Excuse me? Are we all deranged or not?

Charlotte Olympia Pumps

There is style. There is fashion…….. And then there is fashion victim. If you buy these you are going to look back in horror at what you wore. Don’t go there. It also strikes me as anti-women to literally hobble us in the recession maybe??

Lady Gaga clearly having a Bad Romance with these well named “Alien” shoes. Think hoof, think bunion. Leave Alexander McQueen alone.

Here is Gwyneth Paltrow ???????????? Ladies just vote with your feet go and find a sexy pair.

Xmas Special Clinique Mens Grooming Gift Set

by Gabrielle on December 3, 2010

For Xmas Clinique have tons of great gift solutions for the man in your life. This is a great way to stop him using your makeup!! The men I tried this on loved it. Men get dry skin after shaving and love being pampered just the same as we do.

The anticipation in the air was almost palpable. The sound of flowing water was suspended amid a veil of silence. They were all there, fashion and media royalty, fabulously seated facing a recreation of the gardens of Versailles within the walls of the Grand Palais in Paris. And they were all there for him, the Emperor, Karl Lagerfeld.

It was with this grand backdrop that Chanel showcased the Spring Summer 2011 Collection. I’m surprised twitter did not go into overdrive from the multitude of exuberant tweets from editors and journalists. The collection had 85 looks and 80 models each talking a five minute catwalk.

All the Chanel classics were there, from the suits, to the quilted bags, to the black and white, but for next season was Lagerfeld’s vision infused with a more contemporary feeling to the collection but as usual Très Très Chic. From jackets to dresses and trousers we have applied patches with backgrounds of white silk inserts, the Chanel silhouette is more fluid than the original, losing its rigidity. There was an aura of coquetteness and flirtyness which was introduced with feathered tailleur dresses.

Just when we though it couldn’t get any better Kate Hessen sashays into view holding a Black parasol in the shape of a Coco Chanel hat, introducing the dramatic Camellia print with black background that came in chiffon dresses and skirts. The metallic tweeds will soon be taking over camel as next season’s luxury shade.

The accessories came in long gold ear rings and bags, glittering peep-toe boots, chain mail like gloves and black and white pearl embellished bracelets. The show shone even more brightly when Chanel Muse Ines de La Fresange appeared on the 76th look making it feel like a celebration of Maison Chanel  rather than a fashion show.

Ines De La Fressange Chanel Spring Summer 2011

Karl is only person who could recreate the Versailles gardens in such fabulous way, and the emperor’s new clothes are the only ones worthy enough for such a show.

As the show came to an end with the orchestra rendition of the Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony, Karl and Ines closed the show, which was as much as an iconic vision as the label itself.
