Jewel Tones : What to wear : Autumn Winter 2011

by Hayley Bevan on August 14, 2011

Sapphire at Christopher Kane

With the end of a fashion season almost upon us, we can only start mourning the loss of all those summer brights and neon’s that made our grey British mornings a bit more bearable. However there may be a ray of light yet, for Autumn Winter designers were focusing on a lush jewel palette “colour has become the new black” said Roland Mouret.

 Sapphire at Diane Von Fustenburg

The autumn winter collections are saturated with rich, powerful, and mesmerising jewel tones, which infuse us with happiness and liberate us. From Emeralds, to midnight Amethyst, Scarlet Ruby and Garnet, to opulent Topaz.

Chanel showing Emerald

Designers took inspiration from the jewellery box, bringing us an array of glamorous pieces, in sophisticated styles, and luxurious fabrics. At each fashion capital we took in floor length evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and statement outerwear, all rendered even more lustrous in the hues of precious stones.

 Emilio Pucci Emerald

Caroline Herrera Ruby Velvet

Ralph Lauren Ruby Velvet

Thakoon Topaz silk satin

This Topaz Roland Mouret number made us fall in love as soon as it hit the runway, the artfully cut stretch parachute-silk dress is the perfect concoction of style and versatility that will flatter a bigger bust line and accentuate a smaller one. try it with the back in favour knee high boot, in a fabulous rust colour and matching clutch for day, and show stopping patent black accessories for evening.

 Amethyst at Brioni

Versace Amethyst

Wearing these decadent shades will give you the feeling of owning some pure precious luxury. As stylists we suggest you embrace these shades now, and start wearing them from day to night as a glamorous alternative to black, so we have carefully edited our favourite pieces to help you work this sophisticated look.

This sapphire dress by Yves Saint Laurent is the top of our wish list; fluid satin and a double layered front make it the perfect dress for every figure. It can be worn tied at the front or back and will make the ultimate statement with black accessories and an eye catching necklace.

Gucci Emerald Silk

This emerald silk-voile asymmetric dress is from Gucci and is undoubtedly one of the key pieces from the collection. With a nod to 70′s glamour, we suggest accentuating the deep colour with metallic accessories; this dress is in need of very high heels to carry of the dramatic thigh split.

This Gianbattista Valli wool, silk and cashmere dress is a testament to his ability to design for women and make them look stunning, clever draping will bring the eye upwards, chinch with a belt to define the waist, Complement the rich hue with luxe gold jewellery and glossy accessories for a polished look.

Halston Heritage Amethyst

This beautiful Amethyst woven crepe by Halston Heritage hooded coat is infused with that must have vintage glamour that made the label a celebrity favourite, it’s a fabulous piece to define your waist with the detachable belt, and we know you will ooze Hollywood Hauteur by adding statement jewellery for your drinks to dinner statement staple.

And Last but not least here at Camp Teare, we know how much you love you Accessories, the Jewel tones are reigning on feet and and arm candy too this season, here are our favourites:-

Iconic Fashion Autumn Winter 2011

by Gabrielle on August 7, 2011

Every season brings iconic fashion that screams style and buy me!! This gorgeous coat (plus Homberg hat ) from Gucci  one example. Gucci is full of fabulous jewel colours.

Antonio Beradi has two amazing dresses this is showing the lace trend, the other is a stunning red dress with padded shoulders.

Whenever I am Personal Shopping for someone who wants a truly special dress I always check out Dolce and Gabbanna. The star fabric in heavy silk will make you look and feel gorgeous. These dresses have inbuilt corsetary to suck in the waist and flatter, you do not have to be small to look great. Larger sizes look voluptuous and sexy totally feminine.

Here is the sizzlingly sexy Bond actress Zoe Salander showing how to rock Dolce and Gabbanna.

I loved the Givenchy collection. To me it was the mixture of colours, black and yellow, or black and blue creating a superb opulence. I will be looking for these to arrive in the shops.

I loved Holly Fulton the show rocked and here is how to work the large pattern trend. With chunky integral jewllery this maxi dress in wonderful turquoise is simply sensational.

Autumn Winter Trends 2011 :1940′s Fashion

by Gabrielle on August 1, 2011

I love 1940’s fashion. Recently commenting for The Guardian on Glamour of the Gods I noted how relevant it is to what we wear today. Here is Kate Moss on this months Vogue.co.uk looking so elegant and stylish in a beautiful 1940’s style dress from Miu Miu.

From Mark Jacobs we have witty pretty little suits perfectly matched ladylike gloves, collar, hat and hosiery and look at that stylish hand bag lovely.

At Gucci there is sublime sensual fox fur in gorgeous wine, to match a cerise dress topped with a wonderful mauve Homberg hat. The key to wearing this is in the details, colours are matched, gloves, hats, bags provide the essential extras and the whole adds up to elegant style.

John Galliano shows us the importance of tailoring. Here topped with a stylish French beret the silhouette is sculpted to show off the hourglass figure. Very feminine and very flattering.

Lanvin rocks and this season it does not disappoint check the hat, gloves and bag all in scale and perfectly proportioned coupled with a supple leather shift dress superb.

Some of us are ahead of the Fash Pack, here is me wearing vintage Christian Dior outside Christopher Kane in Sept 2010!!

Royal Wedding- What to Wear

by Gabrielle on April 29, 2011

As the Leading London Personal Stylist and Personal Shopper I am frequently asked with help for what to wear to a wedding. Some of the nicest wedding clothes I have seen are at Alberta Ferritti.

Colour blocking is one of the big trends for Spring Summer 2011 and Gucci here show how amazing it can look for a wedding.

Emanuel Ungaro have amazing wedding suits, this is stunning and would suit anyone from 25-60. Lovely.

Prabal Gurung does fabulous dresses in beautiful fabrics often with inner corsetry that look very elegant.

Look this season for soft pastels like this ice pink stunning Chanel dress. I would love to wear this to the Royal Wedding.

Another big trend for spring summer 2011 is animal prints Bluemarine show how to do this with style. I love the chunky gold jewellery as well. Now where is my invite??????????

Milan Fashion Week Gucci Spring Summer 2011

by Gabrielle on October 1, 2010

In Milan Gucci started the fashion week with an explosion of fabulous jewel colours. Vibrant shades in satin and silks lit up the catwalk.

I love this orange beige combination accessorised with burnt orange metallic shoes.

A lot of designers showed white this season. At Gucci neutral was nude, here high-waisted trousers worn with a Nehru collared jacket.

Jumpsuits were silky, strapless and worn with lovely strappy sandals.

Or black smoking jacket style, with deeply low cut necklines.

Dresses were fringed and deeply exotic in more jewel tones. Wow! Bravo Frida Giannini!

GUCCI: SPRING SUMMER 10

by Gabrielle on October 1, 2009

GUCCI 1

As a Personal  Stylist and a writer I wear 2 hats. The first is looking at what to wear now, the second and what is coming. Well what is coming from Gucci is………….fabulous

GUCCI 2

High waisted cigarette pants, “At Last”, say all the Hourglass girls resigned to the last 5 years feeling fat in hipster trousers. These show off the tiny waist, flatten the tummy and look how elegant they look.

GUCCI 3

Summer whites, soft greys and then bold prints. Look at how fabulously this dress is cut.

GUCCI SS 10

Still with the trend of embellishments, this is a bold statement dress, so much more interesting than the LBD we will all be wearing for the next 6 months!!
