Work It : Stylist Styles Spring Summer 2011

by Hayley Bevan on May 17, 2011

They were all over this year’s S/S runways, and they caught the attention of all the Stylists who were fabulously perched on the rows, they proceeded to follow us from show to show, from Sonia Rykiel to DKNY, the Sherbet coloured blazer kept appearing.

Add a pink silk blazer to your spring collection and wear it casually with tailored trousers, and skirts, in cool or camel tones for a polished take on the trend. Shown here by Balenciaga.

The blazer is an essential when it comes to yourworking wardrobe, and we agree that you can never have too many. You can choose from mannish, double breasted, or tailored pieces. A stylist’s top tip to achieving the look, is avoiding head-to-toe sweet tones, and to opt for layers. This is lovely from Carven.

Another one of our favourite trends for this season is the printed skirt, From Prada’s banana skirts

to the feminine laced embroidered flowers at Erdem, the catwalk was awash with pattern.

The bold prints might look daunting, but teaming them with neutral hues and simple separates, you can achieve a sophisticated and sexy look.

With all this in mind update your office look with our pick of the best ones.

Crafted from ‘Sparkle Tweed’, this new addition to the Mulberry family combines subtle countryside chic with preppy city-girl cool. A number of new fixtures including rose-gold hardware and etched buckles bring a sense of luxury and add classic charm. Mixing elements of the signature Bayswater and the satchel, this bag is certain to bring both style and functionality to any wardrobe.

Balenciaga City in Grenadine

Colour Pop: With the colour experts Pantone announcing ‘Honeysuckle’ pink as the shade of the year, ever-chic Balenciaga released their signature city bag in ‘Grenadine’ for 2011. The soft, vintage crafted lambskin and aged brass hardware details exude effortless style and luxury. With its detachable shoulder strap and top handles, the city bag is functional and versatile, injecting a bold punch of attitude into any outfit.

Alexander Wang Brenda

The Shoulder Bag: Avoid the holiday fashion faux pas of bulky tourist backpacks and exude cool with Alexander Wang and the Brenda mini camera bag. The exterior reflects the label’s signature downtown glamour, combining vintage, washed calfskin leather with metallic nickel hardware. Also available in new Brick and Burnt Sand shades, this bag is perfect for all your essentials.  At the intersection of luxury and function, this handbag is a must-buy for any jet-setting Fashionista in 2011.
