ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Siren Song : Spring Summer 2012 Trends

by Hayley Bevan on January 10, 2012

Givenchy SS2012

The  theme of water appears to have been the canvas for the spring-summer 2012 parades. The mythical siren sang beguilingly to designers to lure them into creating homage to herself and the aquamarine and cerulean sea realm. The models came  wrapped in clothes in the colors of the seabed, rebrodées and shimmering scales at Givenchy  with its wetsuit-like feel to the collection.

Chanel SS2102

Also ribbons in the shape of waves adorning the nymphs here at Chanel we felt the definite undercurrent of a  Botticelli  sea Goddess with iridescent mother of pearl, and strings of pearls encircling waists.

Chanel SS2012

Even the catwalk was adorned with waves and sea pebbles to create a marine feel.

versace SS2012

Prints which echoed ancient pottery and the myth of Poseidon at Versace.

versace SS2012

At Versace, materials, light as sea foam floated in a harmonious aquatic carousel, and seemed to blend, as in nature with their lines and hues the with the horizon of the sea and sky.

Alexander McQueen SS2012

The underwater magic did not stop there at Mcqueen we saw the emergence of another sea goddess, the oceanic life of Gaia was as fresh sea spray on the outfits composed of corals and shells.

All in all the shows were a fabulous dive into the deep blue for the Stylists at Gabrielle Teare who can’t wait to be adding a splash bringing next season’s biggest trend into our clients wardrobes.

Sarah Burton : A Style Celebration

by Gabrielle on November 30, 2011

I was thrilled when Sarah Burton won British  Fashion Awards Designer of The Year. The collection from Alexander McQueen has become more feminine and stylish. I loved Pippa Middleton’s Dress at the wedding and more recently some of Kate Middleton’s most stylish looks have come from here. So here is a celebration of Sarah Burton and congratulations to a well deserved winner!

The Tarton Trend

by Michael Mulligan on November 29, 2011

the tarton trend

Autumn/Winter 2011 welcomed tartans from the likes of Burberry Prorsum, Tory Burch, Daks, Valentino and Etro (to name a few). The overall trend seemed to be for big squarish patterns in dark muted colours. Printed dresses, trouser-suits, wraps and capes all lent themselves to the trend, giving Autumn/Winter 2011 a swift injection of country-chic.

Where can you get the trend? I scoured the web for some chic tartan pieces available to buy now.

These dresses are fabulous examples of how to embrace the trend full on. The vintage Gucci wrap dress fits in nicely with this seasons 1940′s trend. Rag and Bone offers a simple, yet interesting and versatile tartan dress perfect for day-into-night. The third dress by Carven has a very sculptural feel with the draped shoulder and pleated skirt – A super-chic option for any occasion.

tarton jacket

Jackets are another great way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. This bold red jacket by MCQ would look great worn casually over jeans or even dressed up in an LBD and heels. The second jacket by Marios at Topshop has a dropped waist and a certain shapelessness that is perfect for adding a touch of  20′s country-chic that will carry you over into Spring/Summer.

tarton accessories
Finally, accessories. These pieces are fantastic for those who don’t want to take the trend head on. Introducing small touches of tartan to your look will be just as effective. I especially like the bolted tartan bangle by  a young British designer called J.W Anderson, and the printed scarf by Vivienne Westwood (Tartan’s undisputed Queen).

It seems to be catching on too. Kylie Minogue was recently spotted sporting a pair of classic tartan trousers, teamed effortlessly with a black velvet blazer. Rihanna was bang-on-trend whilst performing on The X Factor last weekend, wearing a white collared mini-dress with a silver-chain choker.

by Gabrielle on August 21, 2011

Kate-Middleton-Alexander-McQueen

I think Kate Middleton must have read my last post! She has really upped her style. I love this Sarah Burton for  Alexander McQueen outfit. Kate Middleton’s Style : Hit or Miss?

by Gabrielle on August 16, 2011

As The Leading London Personal Shopper  I frequently comment in the press on Celebrity Style. Kate Middleton does not feel she needs a stylist so what is the verdict on Kate Middleton’s style chic or cheap?

 Kate Middleton  Dress

This dress is frankly cheap. It is being worn to a major black tie event and is inappropriate for the then fiance of the future King of England. it would work for a secretary at a Company do.   The embellishment is too heavy, the jacket is too big and overall does not work.

Kate Middleton Street Fashion

Kate Middleton Fashion

This is another dreadful outfit. The grey comfy cardi, baggy enough to cover a stomach and hips of a heavier woman looks old fashioned and makes her look much older than her years. This is a beautiful woman in the prime of life.

Kate Middleton Zara dress

This is yet another cheap and frankly nasty outfit. This dress from Zara does not fit, flatter and the A line shape and wide sleeves serve to make her look fatter and older than she is. No stylist would choose this for someone in the public eye. Kate Middleton is representing the UK and needs to seriously up her game. Using a Personal Shopper or Personal Stylist is a must for anyone regularly photographed.

Kate Middleton Suit

Kate Middleton Hobbs Suit

This is Kate Middleton in a high street Hobbs suit. Hobbs has a much older target consumer group i.e. 35-55 Kate is 27. Thus the effect is dull, makes her look older and has zero wow factor or sex appeal.

Pippa Middleton Dress

Pippa Middleton Dress

This honestly is the dreary sisters. Bear in mind that both are mid to late twenties. These print “safe” dresses are more appropriate for women 30 years older. Pippa Middleton can and should look amazing.

There are great clothes to be had on the high street but she needs to up her spend a bit and choose clothes that are classic with a twist. Kate Middleton’s’ style is naturally classic but she can and should do better. Hire a stylist buy less spend a bit more look chic. This is how she does style well.

This is a stunning dress, she looks every inch the future wife of the King of England.

This outfit looks young, chic and elegant. The first wow casual outfit shown that will and did wow the press.

This is another great dress, clearly not from the high street and clearly fashion forward.

Jewel Tones : What to wear : Autumn Winter 2011

by Hayley Bevan on August 14, 2011

Sapphire at Christopher Kane

With the end of a fashion season almost upon us, we can only start mourning the loss of all those summer brights and neon’s that made our grey British mornings a bit more bearable. However there may be a ray of light yet, for Autumn Winter designers were focusing on a lush jewel palette “colour has become the new black” said Roland Mouret.

 Sapphire at Diane Von Fustenburg

The autumn winter collections are saturated with rich, powerful, and mesmerising jewel tones, which infuse us with happiness and liberate us. From Emeralds, to midnight Amethyst, Scarlet Ruby and Garnet, to opulent Topaz.

This emerald silk-voile asymmetric dress is from Gucci and is undoubtedly one of the key pieces from the collection. With a nod to 70′s glamour, we suggest accentuating the deep colour with metallic accessories; this dress is in need of very high heels to carry of the dramatic thigh split.

My Favourite Designer Shoes Autumn Winter 2011

by Gabrielle on August 8, 2011

I love designer shoes and this season there are loads to set yourheart on fire. From Jimmy Choo these embellished sandals will rock with any LBD.

From Giuseppe Zanotti comes very stylish shoe boots without a peep toe so your feet will stay lovely and dry.

I  saw these Christian Louboutin fetish shoes at the David Koma show in February they looked great with the leather and black dresses.

For the first time in ages this season has comfortable flats and boots. Alexander Mcqueen has great riding boots with the trademark skull on the back.

I love these Pedro Garcia sandals very elegant and flat.

For the last of summer wear these eye catching Miu Miu brogues in zebra print and then wear them with minis or skinnies when the autumn starts.
