SUMMER STYLE: The White Stripes!

by Michael Mulligan on May 17, 2012

Nautical and Breton stripes are a classic way to keep your style clean and chic this summer. Don’t think full on sailor suit, instead opt for well tailored simple pieces in simple stripes. These summery stripes are also a great way to incorporate this seasons trends for sporty details and crisp whites.

This zipper swimsuit by Lisa Marie Fernandez is great – it has that cool, sports chic feel. Team with these retro-inspired sunglasses for a glamorous pool-side look. Simple striped tunic dresses (like this one by Aubin & Wills) are a great investment – They’ll keep you stylish for summers to come.

A simple white summer dress is great for teaming with stripes, especially if you prefer bold patterns in smaller doses. Go for a pretty striped cardigan on the cooler days, or cinch in your waist with a sporty striped belt.

Keep it casual with structured white trousers – Pinstripes are classic and flattering great for any age. Floppy hats are big this summer and can add elegance to both casual and dressed-up outfits.

.

Cool Breton stripes have a tendency to look casual. If you want to take this look into the evening you don’t have to play by the rules. This Cavalli dress with sheer striped panels is perfect for grown up glamour. Think outside the box, strappy sandals and pleated accessories add will add complimentary finishing touches to a striped look.

Wedding Style- Designer Wedding Dresses

by Gabrielle on January 27, 2012

I have been busy buying beautiful designer wedding dresses for my Clients and myself. As a Personal Shopper I love this time of year looking for the most fabulous dresses I can find. Caroline Castigliano has this new in for Spring Summer 2012. What I saw over and over was brides wearing the wrong colour dress this really matters it will drain you on the day. Call me I will help you to find the perfect dress. In one shop all 4 brides were wearing the wrong colour.  www.gabrielleteare.com

I have always loved David Fielden dresses so I recently bought two. One for me and one for my client. His dresses are always beautiful, always very stylish and he has a range with very many styles, something for everyone. He also does white. I am naturally a brunette so all the creams wash me out. I need white. Staff are super friendly as well.

Le-Spose-di-Gio has lovely very chic, modern styles. if you dont want to wear a dress this suit rocks stylish and sexy too. I love it. This shop has soft pinks and blues as well check out the Ebury Street store.

David Fielden, Sassi Holford and Phillipa Lepley are all within walking distance of each other so check out all three. Sassi Holford makes couture dresses that are relatively inexpensive and many are innovative designs. Staff are friendly, helpful and you can change things to get the dress you want.

Phillipa Lepley had quite uninteresting dresses nothing that the other shops did not have and they were much more expensive. The same dress being 2-4K more expensive. The web site also does not work all the pictures appear in minature.

Vera Wang are gorgeous dresses bt very pricey. I have been to Browns bridal three times not an experience ofr the faint hearted. You come in, they immediately ask your budget and as most brides have no idea at first this rapidly leads to them refusing to show any dresses. Staff are cold, snooty if you want a Vera Wang dress Harrods treat you like the star you are…………

Jane Taylor Millinery has lovely headpieces for both the bride and the guests. I also loved the black and silver art deco head piece lovely for a guest below.

Also the bride needs fabulous jewellery.

Nota Bene is a newly opened boutique jewellery site which has lovely delicate, elegant designs. Owner Nikki Blowers showed me all her collection I loved them.

Danielfootwear.co.uk also has lovely shoes available up to size 7.

Fashion Hits of 2011

by Michael Mulligan on January 8, 2012

As 2012 begins, let’s have a look back at some of the most stylish ensembles of the past year. Some have been so on-trend, others have been ahead of trends and some have just stayed true to their own styles.

To Die For : Marchesa SS12

by Michael Mulligan on November 20, 2011

These three gowns by Marchesa are to die for. Clearly taking an inspiration from the Gilded Age, they are perfect for translating a slice of high society Edwardian glamour into modern day life. With sheer draping layers, floaty tiers of chiffon and intricate detailing, these dresses are bound to become red carpet favourites.

Some industry insiders aren’t happy with Marchesa, who seem to produce only exquisite evening dresses every season. I can see their point, the brand can be repetitive and predictable whilst other designers are new and innovative season after season. On the flip side though, aren’t there enough designers to push boundaries and mix it up? These gowns may be predictable, but you can’t deny their beauty.

There is clearly room for everyone, here in the fashion industry. Whether it be the otherworldly artistry of Alexander McQueen, the punk-rock values of Vivienne Westwood or indeed, the timeless elegance of Marchesa’s evening-wear.

Daphne Guiness : A Style Lesson

by Gabrielle on November 16, 2011

Daphne Guiness

What makes someone stylish?? Here is a style lesson, attention to detail. Daphne Guiness has a beautiful hat, the lace framing her face. The silver brooch adding feminity and a gorgeous white jacket. Very feminine, very beautiful.

I think the grey ribbon is too fussy and should be left on the cake box!!

Asos-Personal-Shopper-1

As a Personal Shopper I often find stylish buys in unexpected places. Check out this dress from ASOS. This is a copy of Victoria Beckham with the stylish silver zip great for work, washable and a bargain!!!!!!!

This is a sweet little party or sun dress buy in unusual colours like this cobalt blue and it will look expensive.

Here is another great go straight from work to  drinks dress. The mustard colour will suit autumn complexions or asian ones.

This is a copy of the Roland Mouret titanium dress lovely, sexy and elegant.

This dress has a lovely neckline and flatters, the red will sizzle with effortless sex appeal. Show your shape and bask in the compliments you get.

I love the one shoulder and grecian draping of this dress the ivory colour rocks great for evenings. This will suit hourglasses, pear shapes and give curves to triangles.

Whatever your budget be stylish, be fabulous enjoy !!

The Trend: The Maxi Coat

There is no escaping winter, here are the the best styles handpicked by stylists at Gabrielle Teare.

Remember the furore of last year’s Camel Coat? As always every season see the rise of a new star in the coat charts. From Celine’s long Chesterfield coat and Haider Ackermann’s theatrical floor grazing coat, it was clear at the shows that maxi coats were going to be big for AW11.

Here at Gabrielle Teare we wouldn’t be fabulous stylists if we didn’t give you some stylish advice on how to pull this trend, be aware that the most flattering shapes in this style are streamlined, and opt for a single breasted or dressing gown style. Pinstripe, grey flannel, and luxurious wool and cashmere, with clean minimal lines, are all set to make you stand out. Take a look at our stylist edits to ensure that you won’t be left out in the cold or from the style fronts this winter.

Margiela Coat

This wool-blend Merlot coloured coat from Maison Martin Margiela, has the fashion house’s characteristic twist. Wear with a draped blouse and straight leather trousers for a work to dinner look.

rodarte coat

rodarte coat

The Rodarte girls did it again, for this season they infused their collection with a dramatic look, and this coat adds a touch of theatre to any outfit, channel the show styling and wear it with chiffon billowing skirts and flowing lines.

Roland Mouret

roland Mouret coat

Another favourite by Monsieur Mouret  here at Gabrielle Teare, this is immaculate tailoring at its best, this hopsack-wool coat is best when worn open to show off a stunning shift dress or belted up to chinch in the waist with a pair of straight leg trousers and patent stacks.

Missoni Coat

Missoni Coat

This Missoni coat is absolutely stunning, the Chartreuse and White wool-blend checked pattern was one of the key looks for the Missoni A/W
show, however this statement pattern is screaming for subtle and minimal tailoring to be worn underneath.

Rick Owens Coat

Rick Owens Coat

An asymmetric wool-blend coat from the master of cool Rick Owens, figure flattering, grey melange, uber cool, this one wins them all, wear with a cashmere sweater and remember to team grey tailoring with rich rusty browns leathers, knee highs or shoe boots, and a matching clutch with this will look  tres tres chic.

Chloe Coat

Chloe coat

An absolutely fabulous coat from Chloe, it is the perfect “effortless but oozing elegance” statement. The fabric flows beautifully and the gold clasp on the front is the ultimate waist cincher, wear with wide pant legs and fabulous platforms.

Autumn Winter Trends 2011 :1940′s Fashion

by Gabrielle on August 1, 2011

I love 1940’s fashion. Recently commenting for The Guardian on Glamour of the Gods I noted how relevant it is to what we wear today. Here is Kate Moss on this months Vogue.co.uk looking so elegant and stylish in a beautiful 1940’s style dress from Miu Miu.

From Mark Jacobs we have witty pretty little suits perfectly matched ladylike gloves, collar, hat and hosiery and look at that stylish hand bag lovely.

At Gucci there is sublime sensual fox fur in gorgeous wine, to match a cerise dress topped with a wonderful mauve Homberg hat. The key to wearing this is in the details, colours are matched, gloves, hats, bags provide the essential extras and the whole adds up to elegant style.

John Galliano shows us the importance of tailoring. Here topped with a stylish French beret the silhouette is sculpted to show off the hourglass figure. Very feminine and very flattering.

Lanvin rocks and this season it does not disappoint check the hat, gloves and bag all in scale and perfectly proportioned coupled with a supple leather shift dress superb.

Some of us are ahead of the Fash Pack, here is me wearing vintage Christian Dior outside Christopher Kane in Sept 2010!!
