House of Holland AW2011

House Of Holland House Of Holland

House of Holland

If Tom Ford had a mischievous, British son I’m sure it would be Henry Holland! Limitlessly talented and iconic, designer Henry Holland seems to never put a foot wrong. Whether its his mass following of readers on Vogue.com, packed out clubs to hear him DJ, or his rows of adoring fans cueing round the block to see his next collection, Henry Holland is like the cool kid in school that everyone wants to hang out with and be around!

House of Holland’s Autumn/Winter ’11 collection is full of lust worthy items, and soon to be trends that accentuate Henry’s natural creative ability but also the quality of his work and his stylishly considered use of playfulness. It seems our little Henry is all grown up and perhaps ready to receive the recognition he deserves for his skill and design not just his popularity.

Bingo themed prints and patchwork crochet were styled out in true HOH form with girly pearl detail and hand drawn budgerigar designs floating down the catwalk. Peaking out were previews of his new collection of famous slogan tees, sure to be an instant sell-out.

Nick Grimshaw, Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung, Jaime Winstone, Jo Wood and Jade Parfitt on the celebrity packed front row.

Buyers and stylists were eagerly watching and taking down notes, and if they jump on board with what feels like everyone else in London already has, House of Holland is sure to have a very good year. xx

Lanvin For H&M November 23rd :Lux for Less

by Tracy Kawalik on November 6, 2010

Designer collaborations are the fashion future. With music, art and fashion leaders teaming up with the high street to create cuper cool and stylized collections that often sell out in a matter of minutes. The campaign was shot with top supermodels Natasha Poly, Hanelore Knuts and Tati Cotliar.

How amazing is this T-Shirt????

H&M was one of the first high street retailers to set the trend by collaborating with the finest in fashion world. Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Madonna, Victor & Rolf, Matthew Willamson and Sonia Rykiel have all collaborated with H&M in the past creating jaw-dropping collections that attract thousands of adoring fans and often become the most coveted items of the season!

This gorgeous dress would retail for >£1200 so buy for a snip at H&M. It will suit almost anyone but will flatter taller ladies, hourglass and add curves to straight figures.

My heart was a flutter when I found out Lanvin would be making my November this year by collaborating with H&M in their annual Christmas designer collection. The full line has just been revealed on www.h&m.com and will be on the shop floors for purchase on November 23rd. This necklace pay £500 or c£15 choice is yours.

Fashion insiders are already buzzing over the key pieces such as oversized jewelled accessories and Lanvin signature dresses which will all be available at fraction of the price for those of us who not regulars on the Bond Street scene. Check out this 50′s Prom dress. Be careful if you are short go for the more streamlined ones.

The collection is said to feature high quality and craftsmanship despite the price tag, reported Artistic director Alber Elbaz “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less.

I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.”

All Hail McQueen!!!

by Tracy Kawalik on September 20, 2010

This morning the fashion world paid tribute to the late great Lee Alexander McQueen. A year since McQueen’s passing and its still all too clear the effect that he has had on so many, as the glittering line of his A-list loved ones filed in to St.Paul’s Cathedral.

Above: Daphne Guinness & Sarah Jessica Parker

Long time friends Daphne Guinness, and Sarah Jessica Parker were in attendance among others close to McQueen’s heart such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, jewellery designer Shaun Leane and milinier Philip Treacy who contributed to the prayers.

Philip Treacy shared the loss of their great friend, and accomplished stylist Isabella Blow with McQueen, 3 years previous to his death. Isabella first discovered Lee Alexander McQueen, purchasing his first collection in its entirety.

Above: Anna Wintour & Hilary Alexander

Anna Wintour, famed Editor-in-Chief paid tribute this morning by sharing sentimental words with the congregation.

Speaking of his childhood not far from the cathedral she said “As a child he loved nothing more than sitting on the rooftop and watching birds fly by,” She went to say “He showed us everything was possible; dreams could become reality. But he has left us with an even more exceptional legacy, a talent that soared like the birds of his childhood above us all.”

Above:  Pam Hogg and Naomi Campbell

Bjork gave an outstanding performance of the ethereal Gloomy Sunday dressed as an angel while the congregation recited Amazing Grace, I Vow To Thee My Country and Jerusalem.

Friend Annabelle Nielson said: “He kept true to who he was and where he came from. Lee made the impossible possible. He was the greatest designer this country has ever produced.” said friend Annabelle Nielson

C’est Chic C’est Chanel….

by Tracy Kawalik on August 3, 2010

London may have been smoldering in July but our Parisian neighbors were as cool as ever. Couture week launched with inspiring visions of an autumn elegance a plenty in a way none other than the French could provide.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior

Bold, bright and brilliant. Infinite attention to detail matched with stunning colour palettes. Each look was exciting and far far away from dreary fall tones. Sky-high floral headpieces created by Stephen Jones were fun finishing touches as was the twisted, topiary style up dos’.

Givenchy

Givenchy

Frida’s three obsessions Religion, Sensuality and the human anatomy were the main theme. Swarovski skeletons danced on top of flowing tulle and bleached ostrich feathers, miniature ceramic winged skulls appeared among sequins and lace, with delicate porcelain bones acting as zippers. A masterpiece collection reminiscent of the Mexican Day of the Dead all in luxurious metallics and rich romantic nudes.

Jean-Paul Gaultier

Vogue commented, “Gaultiers wardrobe is far more the mistress than the wife”

And having seen this collection I know who I want to be.

Jean-Paul Gaultier

Glamorous maxi dresses, exquisite turbans, slinky fringe, and all the stuff that little girls dreams are made of. Jean-Paul put together a smouldering collection honouring French women and classic couture. Long leather gloves, feather accents, and slick little black dresses were classic, chic and more and more fabulous by the sultry models who accented looks with  dramatic cigarette holders and attitude a plenty.

Chanel

Karl stole the show with a mouth-dropping couture collection full of master craftsmanship, rich embroidery, shimmering sequins and all the glamour Russia had to offer! Inspired by Prussian luxury models emerged onto the catwalk under the paws of a gigantic golden lion in the beautiful Grand Palais.

Luxurious coats, and chic, classic timeless tweed heightened the anticipation for autumn and showed that Kaiser Karl truly is in a league of his own.

Chunky cuffs, cropped layers, and encrusted ankle boots made the infinite detail and elegance of each design, wearable and a bit rock and roll hair and the tousled bad girl hair on each perfectly put together piece.
