Summer Breeze……..

by Ella Catliff on March 31, 2010

Alexander Wang SS2010

Looking at some of the key trends for spring/summer 2010, I began to wonder if in fact the old adage that one must suffer for beauty was a thing of that past.

Alexander Wang SS2010

Alexander Wang was a particular front runner for the trend, sending his models down the catwalk in a variety of sporty styles, from modern takes on traditional all-American styles like the classic sweatshirt to the far more risky tracksuit bottom/ heels combination, a bold look on the catwalk but admittedly one that could spell potential disaster when it is inevitably replicated on the high street.

Proenza Schouler SS2010

Generally the concept of ‘sporty’ style may immediately conjure up images of adidas clad teenagers and suburban shopping malls, however it seems that this season the sporty look not only goes luxe – as demonstrated by the athletic glamour of Proenza schouler’s acid brights.

Lacoste SS2010

Lacoste, Hermes and Rochas all demonstrated a softer, more classical take on the trend. The oversized, cricket-jumper style dresses shown at Lacoste offering a more grown-up alternative to the day-glow patterns and spandex cycling shorts which may understandably strike fear into the hearts of fashionista’s everywhere.

Kenzo SS2010

It was not only the sport-inspired looks which hailed the start of a new era in which one can both look fabulous and feel at ease whilst wearing the most up to the minute styles.

For spring/summer 2010 designers are offering a variety of twists on this less restrictive trouser style, ranging from ballooning styles in a tribal print at Kenzo

Balmain SS2010

To cargo pants at Balmain, worn with a slouchy ripped T shirt, still stylish but  easy to wear.

Louis Vuitton Kitten Heels SS2010

It seems that we even have the option of choosing comfortable footwear over the sky scraper heels that have been the sartorial staple of the fashionable modern woman for so long.

Prada SS2010

The stiletto has not, nor ever probably will be considered passé, however judging by the mass of kitten heels, clogs, wedges and mid-height-heels that paraded the catwalks at Chanel, Miu Miu, Prada, Louis Vuitton and others.

BEAUTY BUZZ : SKINCARE, FACIALS, WAXING

by Gabrielle on March 19, 2010

Repechage Facial

To relax and prepare for a busy weekend there is nothing to beat a facial. Seval at Vanilla 123A Kings Road SW3 is a superstar, I have the Repechage 1.5 hours four layer facial. This is the ultimate in luxury, first a Seaweed Filtrate to soften lines, then a wonderful facial massage, followed by a sea weed mask to eliminate toxins and nourish the skin. Finally a mineral heated mask to stimulate and activate the seaweed below it. Bliss !! Seval is also my favourite waxer I am despite all blonde photographs naturally black haired for me waxes have to be quick she is superb!!

Cold Plasma Perricone MD

I have been trying Cold Plasma new from Perricone MD.People keep asking me what have I been using because my skin is radiant. Cold Plasma is a system that takes essential skin nutrients in an ionic suspension. There is a unique delivery system that means that for the first time larger molecules can pass into the skin cells where they are most needed. Does it work??

79% reported best cream ever used. 89% improvement in radiance, 87% improved skin smoothness. This cream tackles redness, wrinkles, pore size, dryness, improves radiance, firmness and smoothness. www.perriconemd.co.uk

Natio Mineral Make Up

From Australia is Natio Mineral MakeUp I love this!! This is a  pure, lightweight, natural mineral loose powder foundation.  All these products are  free from talc, parabens dyes so your skin can breathe! You just use a little and then add more where you need it. It looks natural, light and matches my skin perfectly.

OP THerapy

Also from Australia and using Emu Oil is OP Therapy.Unlike other oils emu oil does not clog up the pores of the skin or cause acne. The Body Hydrator is one of the star products from the OP Therapy range, a rich treatment cream that is the perfect little luxury.  Resembling whipped double cream, it is nevertheless quickly absorbed leaving you with skin that is extraordinarily soft and hydrated all day. I loved the vanilla scent. www.optherapy.co.uk

Chorella

Lastly for beauty eat your greens girls!  Chorella is an algae rich in antioxidants and nutrients that can help cells repair their RNA and DNA

It is thought that by supplementing the diet with Chorella the body is able to produce more cells containing healthy, well replicated DNA, and this can help to slow the body’s natural aging process this also detoxifies. Fab!!

Stylists :Press : Buyers: Oh My!!

by Tracy Kawalik on March 10, 2010

Felder Felder

Stylists, Press and Buyers Oh My!

There were sunglasses indoors, Skyscraping stilettos and more back combing since the 80′s. Another fashion week in London has passed and before spring can show its sunny little face the fashion pack have  already been busy swooning over and selecting the hot new collections for Fall/Winter 2010.

Stunning German twins Daniela and Annette Felder brought their Fall Winter 2010 collection to the catwalk with “sexy” personified, and a bit of Manhattan girl about town. Each look is totally rock and roll yet versatile and feminine. A stylist’s dream collection. The fearless female trend was present throughout the collection with soft leather accents, rich bronze chain detail and studded embellishments.

Ashish

Ashish

Warm cosy knitwear and sequins, sequins, sequins! The fall collection for Ashish is soft and fabulous. His east meets west inspired looks, gave every foggy London girl a little Bollywood touch.

Irwin and Jordan

Irwin & Jordan

Always a big favourite of mine, Irwin and Jordan are soaring from strength to strength and their fall collection is an exciting insight of things to come. Tailored equestrian inspired pieces are among flowing silks, new nudes, and delicate lace. There is a wonderful chic tone that flows throughout making each piece look luxurious and effortlessly cool.

Holly Fulton

Holly Fulton

This new collection is for big city girls everywhere. With echos of the Chrysler building inspiration. From spring/summer and python accents, Holly’s catwalk was a bold breath of fresh air among the more subdue shades for next season. Glistening plastic embellishments, art deco tiling and bright vibrant colour plates made each look a show-stopping piece. Young, fresh and inspiring,I can’t wait to see what Miss Fulton does next!

Lanvin Paris Autumn Winter 2010

by Gabrielle on March 8, 2010

Lanvin 1

Having seen these I think I will defect from Givenchy to Lanvin as my most favourite designer. I love these clothes!

Lanvin 2

Alber Elbaz has stuck to his formula of cut and shape. I would add one more word flow. Fabulous, sinous dresses. Million Dollar dresses.

Lanvin 3

There are some seriously ugly huge long jackets, cut to just above the knee and huge padded shoulders like the Michelin man in some of the AW 2010 collections. Here the padding is elegant and wearable.

Lanvin 4

This is a stupendous gorgeous coat, clings to the shape and adds more curves lovely….

Lanvin 5

The bat dress returns- all black leather gloves and boots, short, but not overly so, with padded shoulders.

Lanvin 6

Even at Lanvin there was the bad and the ugly. This is just  plain unwearable on small people like me! On a 6` model it is not great. Ask yourself is she wearing the coat or is the coat wearing her??
