Rock Chic : Lady Gaga : Where does she get her clothes?

Fashion Expert Lynn Furge reports : “It’s Gaga-mania over here in the US.  She has switched concert venues, changed shows, and yet they flock in droves to see what the Pop Star is up to next.

I was lucky enough to see the growing icon on friday evening in a venue backed with bottomless girls and glitter-clad boys.  Impressed by the fact that she sang all 18 of her songs (not a lipsync in sight), she also handled dozens of costume changes, from wolf-esque masks to a cone bra (seen not only on Gaultier’s runway this September, but on a well know Pop Icon years before her) with disco-ball embellishments. ”

I was there for the music… well, the fashion and maybe then the music.  The interesting part of Lady Gaga is that her performance pieces and fashion choices make anyone who has wondered “Who would wear that off the runway” bite their tongue.  And beyond that, it allows for a new world of fashion-conscious people to take risks… in turn giving notice to newer, edgier, emerging designers to gain feedback. Here is Lady Gaga wearing a hat made of her own hair. Jan 12th 2010.

For the Shoulder craze, try Dora Abodi.  Her silhouettes are daring, but wearable.  I have seen a peek at her Fall 2010 and it is genius in a rock star street fashion sort of way. (Don’t forget to look at the pants, they have a better gleam than the Burberry bondage pant seen on the runway!)

If the pants-less trend seems to bring you stress, try a beach only version.  Once pieces will be huge come summer, but starting early on the trend for those winter holidays is a better idea.  Agnes Valentine makes some bright flirty flattering suits that are half Bond girl and half Pop Star.”
