LONDON MEN DRESS TO IMPRESS AS MARKETS FALL

by Gabrielle on October 24, 2008

Men dress to impress as markets fall.

A new trend in mens fashion is being seen in London. Saville Row tailors report a move away from conspicuous consumption. Bespoke customers are moving away from brash chalk stripes into plains, soft herringbone and light sharkskin fabrics. There appears to be no slowdown in the bespoke market.

Across London elegant, serious suits are making a return. The hedge fund fashion for dressing down is being subtly replaced as men seek to dress to impress. There is a feeling if you are casual in your clothes then you are casual in your job.

Suits return to having cuffs with working buttons, and excessive features such as large collars are on the way out. In the High Street with Marble Arch Marks and Spencer capturing the likes of Saville Row Tailor Timothy Everest the style stakes are higher.

English tailoring is world famous but in recent years softer more fluid shapes from Europe were widely observed. Now the streets of London have returned to a more classic look as men strive to look good in the workplace.

Many men are now seeking the services of an Image Consultant or Personal Shopper as they increasingly realise that how they present themselves will be key to keeping their job or in trying to get a new one. First impressions count, people make decisions on us in the first 30 seconds. You do not get another chance to make a good first impression.

HOCKEY MUM OR SPENDTHRIFT??

by Gabrielle on October 23, 2008

The UK Press are outraged at the spending habits of Hockey Mum PitBull Sarah Palin. Quotes of $150000, or as much as $37000 a week are floating around. The Brits do not understand what a Hockey Mum is. Is a British mum a Cricket Mum?? Why compare yourself with a dog?? Why does a woman who compares herself with a dog wearing lipstick need all these clothes?? Why does she not read a newspaper?? These are vital questions everyone wants answered.

In the world of the Credit Crunch she has spent more than Carla Bruni meeting the Queen at $40000 dollars from Dior. Carla had worldwide acclaim for her clothes.

But money aside, does Sarah Palin look stylish??? She seems to wear a lot of white shirts with black skirts, the waitress look?? There was a ghastly brown jacket, a white tie fronted number that was more Granny than Mum. However apart from this, she has appeared in a lot of pencil skirts, short jackets with killer heels or boots and a fab red jacket. General consensus is that she looks more catwalk than politics, so the answer is yes.
